Iman Woods is an American artist who specializes in
pin-up photography . Due to a recent move from Orlando she is currently creating art in the Mid-Western United States.Based in
Orlando, Florida , Iman Woods uses the self-developed technique "new media illustrative photography" to create her portraits. It consists of a combination of traditional and digital art media to replicate the look which characterized the works of such pin-up artists asAlberto Vargas andGil Elvgren .Each pin-up portrait takes between forty and sixty hours to finish. The final product can be painted on a canvas, printed on photo paper and accessories, or presented in a
DVD slideshow.Woods has been widely featured in media outlets throughout
Greater Orlando and appeared onPBS ' "The Arts Connection", which highlighted her efforts to turn local women intopin-up girl s [http://www.wmfe.org/site/PageServer?pagename=tv_local_artsconnection] . She was also mentioned in a 2007 issue of [http://www.imanphotography.com/images/Orlandoarts.pdf "Orlando Arts Magazine"] and [http://www.imanphotography.com/images/PDF/m2.pdf "Maggie Mae Magazine"] and her art has been displayed in Orlando's Gallery at Avalon Island,Orlando Museum of Art , the Jetsetter Lounge and the Bank of America tower inDowntown Orlando .Woods recently created a calendar that featured cancer survivors who were turned into Pin-up Glamor Girls. The calendar was a benefit project for an Orlando based breast cancer research facility.
