- USTA South Carolina
USTA South Carolina is an independent, not-for-profit, state branch of the U.S. Tennis Association. It is one of 9 state tennis associations in the USTA's Southern Section. USTA South Carolina is run by a volunteer, elected Board of Directors and various appointed volunteer committees and supported by paid professional staff.
USTA South Carolina’s mission is to promote and develop the growth of tennis in South Carolina. According to USTA South Carolina's mission statement "We measure our success not only by the number of USTA members that we serve in SC but also by the number of people who participate in tennis (whether casually or in organized programs, both public and private) each year. Our job is to support local community tennis groups and affiliated organizations by: helping to start new tennis programs or expand existing ones (for any and all ages and abilities), offering suggestions and training (i.e., sharing best local program practices and features), and providing grant money to worthy groups or individuals."
USTA South Carolina uses a strategy based on working with volunteers and tennis professionals in each community to provide a complete pathway of programs in tennis for all ages and all ability levels.
For the last 10 years, USTA South Carolina has grown by about 6% a year and currently has about 24,000 members. As a member of the USTA family, USTA SC oversees tournament play, league play, junior competition and tennis education throughout the state of South Carolina. USTA South Carolina's main offices are located in Columbia, but the Association also has staff in Charleston, Greenville, Rock Hill and Georgetown.
