Jane Daniel is the owner and manager of Mt. Ivy Press, which published "" in 1997. After a law suit brought by
Misha Defonseca , the author of the book, a Boston court ordered Daniel to pay Defonseca $22.5 million and took away Mt Ivy's copyright rights. Ten years after this defeat Daniel began to write a book about the case and post it, chapter by chapter, on a blog. It was here that she formulated first doubts on the authenticity of the story.
