Dan Matovina

Dan Matovina (born October 10, 1957) is known for his work as a recording engineer, record producer, author of a book on Badfinger and a music agent.

Matovina was born in Cleveland, Ohio. Beginning in the early 1980s, his music engineering included artists such as New Edition, The Monkees, Manhattan Transfer, Frankie Valli, The Beach Boys, The Pandoras, James Lee Stanley, Radio Cammon, Easter, The Rats and Jigsaw Seen. His production work included House of Freaks, The Clints, Karmann, On The Air, and Blood on the Saddle.

In the early 1990s, Matovina began his research for his highly-acclaimed biography of the rock band Badfinger entitled Without You: The Tragic Story Of Badfinger (first published in 1997). A revised edition was made available in 2000 with a CD of rarities.[1]

In 1991, Matovina unearthed previously unknown recordings of Pete Ham. For Pete Ham's Estate, Matovina later compiled and produced some of the recordings for release through Rykodisc with the CDs 7 Park Avenue (1997) and Golders Green (1999).

Matovina contributed consulting, liner notes and mastering work for the Badfinger CDs The Very Best Of Badfinger, Head First, and several compilations featuring The Iveys (pre-Badfinger).[2][3] He has also been hired as a consultant for a number of television and radio programs related to the subject of Badfinger.

Since 2004, Matovina has been the music agent for the Heirs and Estate Of Pete Ham. He has teamed with Bug Music, the U.S. adminisrative publisher of Ham's material, in negotiating licenses for use of songs with the NBA, The Sopranos, The Simpsons, American Idol, Oprah Winfrey Show, The O.C., The Tonight Show, The Today Show, Dancing With The Stars, The Departed film and dozens more.
