Argentype

Argentype : name given by Jean-Marie Fadier to his photograms without referent.The originality of Argentypes comes from the mechanism used in the photographic process. The exposure to light of the sensitive photographic paper is direct without the use of a camera. The "resonance" that the artist calls "signature" takes places during the developing process.

The "photographic" properties of Argentype, notably the absence of referent and automaticity, the non reproductibility of the image, gestual intervention, challenges the traditional photographic "point of view".
