Maromavo Location in Madagascar Coordinates: 17°34′S 44°18′E / 17.567°S 44.3°E Country Madagascar Region Melaky District Maintirano Elevation[1] 55 m (180 ft) Population (2001)[2] - Total 3,000 Time zone EAT (UTC3) Maromavo is a town and commune (Malagasy: kaominina) in western Madagascar. It belongs to the district of Maintirano, which is a part of Melaky Region. The population of the commune was estimated to be approximately 3,000 in 2001 commune census.[2]
Only primary schooling is available. The majority 80% of the population of the commune are farmers, while an additional 15% receives their livelihood from raising livestock. The most important crop is rice, while other important products are bananas, wheat, maize and cassava. Services provide employment for 5% of the population.[2]
