Business Alliance For Vietnamese Education (BAVE) is a non-profit educational development organization declaring its commitment to teaching English as a second language to children and young adults, ages 4-17, throughout Vietnam.
Their line, "English For Vietnam" features colorful textbooks, an animated TV series and DVDs that are used by millions of students and their teachers in this rapidly developing country of 84 million people.
Since BAVE is a 501 c(3), the products are funded through grants and sponsorships from multinational corporations and organizations such as JP Morgan Chase, Citibank, Kraft Foods, the GE Foundation, The Atlantic Philanthropies and First Data Western Union.
Their partnership with the Vietnamese government allows BAVE to bring 21st Century learning materials to schools and communities in urban and under-served rural areas. Developed in collaboration with Vietnamese teachers, the materials are culturally relevant helping children to learn English by relating to aspects of life with which they are already familiar.
BAVE’s comprehensive product line represents a significant stage in the broad reform of the country’s educational system. Improved English skills equate to a stronger workforce. Future leaders, business people, scientists, farmers, etc., will contribute more to the development of Vietnam’s market economy and self-sufficiency through better communication with their counterparts around the world.
