- Cosmic Hot Interstellar Spectrometer
The Cosmic Hot Interstellar Plasma Spectrometer (CHIPS) is a space observatory. It was designed to perform all-sky spectroscopy. The spacecraft was launched on January 12, 2003 aboard a Delta II rocket with intended mission duration of one year. As of January 2007 the spacecraft is still functioning and has been converted to a solar observatory.
