Energy Carta is a non-profit organization founded in Singapore by a team of young adults who want to make a positive impact on the world. It is part of a global movement that is driven by a passion for clean technology, sustainable development, the environment, and a desire to invoke change through people's actions.

It seeks to promote its cause by bringing various stakeholders together onto one platform to have meaningful discourse and provide pragmatic solutions to the climate change issues the world faces today. In particular, it seeks to promote interest amongst the grassroots and students, offering opportunities for greater interaction between them and the industry.

Vision

To transform the way people think about sustainable development & clean energy in a professional & action-orientated manner; using a multi-disciplinary & pragmatic approach to connect stakeholders & add value to opportunities.

Mission

To become the platform that connects people & sustainable energy ideas, serving as the interface between grassroots/ students & industry, through awareness programs & tangible projects/ opportunities.

Objectives

Educate

1. To raise grassroots awareness, particularly amongst students, towards clean technology and the opportunities available in this emerging industry.

2. Highlight to the future leaders of the world the importance of economics, technology and policies in resolving climate change issues.

3. Raising environmental awareness towards global warming and climate change and ways to contribute meaningfully.

Engage all Stakeholders

1. Stakeholders include policymakers in all levels of government, non-governmental organizations, institutes, engineers, entrepreneurs, corporate leaders, academics, and student activists.

2. To engage these stakeholders to allow for in-depth discourse and creation of synergy and economic opportunities.

3. Being the interface between the student population and the industry; realizing and publicizing the necessary opportunities including jobs, internships, research projects, creation of startups etc.

Focus on Asia

1. Highlight the economic potential, environmental urgency and endless possibilities within Asia, particularly favorable policies, emerging markets and technology.

Ultimately these will enable to achieve the goal of becoming a catalyst for a coordinated effort to bring energy initiatives to the forefront of the economic and policy agenda in the region.

Team

Energy Carta comprises over 30 student members with diverse international and leadership experiences, with members from different parts of the world such as China, India, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Singapore and Kenya. In addition, a significant part of its team has spent time working internationally in numerous industries and studying in prestigious universities across the US, Europe, China and Singapore, including Stanford University, Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Fudan University, the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) Sweden KTH and the National University of Singapore (NUS). Many of them have lead teams to organize international conferences and competitions including Harvard Project for Asian and International Relations, Start-Up@Singapore and BioBiz. Motivation behind events

Energy Carta aims to foster continuous efforts in promoting interest in clean energy among the grassroots and other stakeholders through:

1. Organizing an annual flagship conference on energy related issues, the first of which is a regional student conference in Oct ’08 focused on clean energy, targeting 200-300 students.

2. Smaller scale events such as panel sessions, lecture series, round table discussions and job fairs organized on a monthly basis for an audience of 50-100 students.

3. Collaborating with relevant university departments, institutes and companies in pursuing hands-on activities pertaining to technology, policy and market research.

4. Sourcing for internship, job opportunities, commercial, research and technical projects for its members to engage in.

5. Embarking on energy efficiency initiatives within the school campus.
