The World Family of Radio Maria is a non-governmental organization (NGO) which was legally established in 1998 and its founding member is the Italian Association Radio Maria.It is currently composed of forty national Associations associated members, present in just as many countries and scattered throughout the various continents, eleven of these in Africa.
The institutional aims of the World Family:- pursue an exclusively educational and training activity methodically and continuously in promoting the communication and broadcasting media, primarily in developing countries;- encourage the social and cultural growth of the countries in which it operates, through promotion of their social, cultural and religious values, to improve the living together and development of human resources, with the aid of radio broadcasts and publication of specific local events;- promote the diffusion of an evangelical message of hope and joy with a special concern for the sick and the poor, according to the teaching of the Magisterium of the Catholic Church;- training of exclusively local staff, for its active participation in all the phases of design, realization and management;- promotion of vocational training, especially within the context of communications with supervision by the local competent authorities;- financial aid and the provision of materials to accomplish complete projects within the context of communication media, especially in developing countries;- promotion of voluntary work at all levels;- support to development programmes aimed at self-sufficiency.
President of the Association is Emanuele Ferrario.
The operating staff consists of professionals, employees and a large number of volunteers who work in the different areas in constant contact with the activities and the projects scattered throughout the five continents.
The Registered Office is in Via del Pettirosso 20 - 00169 Rome, while the Administrative and Technical headquarters is in Via Mazzini 12 - 21020 Casciago (Varese).
