"Sail Away" is a musical with a book, music and lyrics by Noël Coward. The show was Coward's last fully written musical. The Broadway production, opened on October 3, 1961 at the Broadhurst Theatre, where it ran for 167 performances. Coward directed the production, and the cast starred Elaine Stritch. The show was then staged at the Savoy Theatre, in London's West End in 1962, where it ran for 252 performances (also starring Stritch and directed by Coward), and at Her Majesty's Theatre, Melbourne, in 1963. Not only did Noël Coward write the book, music and lyrics, and also directed the show, he even drew the sketch for the logo. This show is set mostly onboard the steamship, Coronia, and was written by Noel Coward especially for Elaine Stritch. The story centers around brash, bold American divorcee Mimi Paragon, working as a hostess on a British cruise ship. The best known musical numbers include "Why Do the Wrong People Travel?" "Useless, Useful Phrases", "The Customer’s Always Right" and the title song.
