Gogle-Mogle is a home remedy of Russian or Yiddish origin. It is made eggs and sugar, though variations include milk, honey and soda. It is often prepared as a transition food for babies moving from a cereal diet to one that includes eggs and other soft foods. It is also a folk medicine used for treating colds or flu, particularly chest colds and laryngitis. In Yiddish culture, Gogle-mogle is ranked highly among other traditional cold remedies such as Grandma's chicken soup.

Isolomon.com [ [http://www.isolomon.com/channel.aspx?channel_id=254 Prevention, Alternative Health, Bubbes Remedies, Jewish Genetic Diseases, Jewish Medical Ethics ] ] offers a Gogle-mogle recipe on their Healthwise page as containing:
* Hot milk
* Butter
* Honey
* Raw eggs
* Sugar

The baby transition recipe includes raw eggs and sugar which in spite of its widespread use in Russia, is a health risk to young children due to possible contraction of salmonella.

Gogle-mogle may have its roots in the Jewish code of law called the Shulchan Arukh [ [http://www.torah.org/learning/halacha/classes/class91-2.html Halacha-Yomi - Torah.org ] ] where one is allowed to consume sweet syrup and/or raw egg on the sabbath to makes one's voice more pleasant.
