8,700 (basketball)The George M. Sullivan Arena (often shortened to the "Sullivan Arena") is an 8,700-seat multi-purposearena inAnchorage, Alaska . The arena opened in 1983. It is home to theAlaska Aces ECHL ice hockey team, theUniversity of Alaska Anchorage Seawolves hockey team (WCHA), and theGreat Alaska Shootout basketball tournament. In2007 it became home to theAlaska Wild of theIndoor Football League . It is also frequently used for touring rock and country concert acts, although it is often criticized for its poor acoustics.
