Thomas Johnson Kuto Kalume

The Right Rev. Thomas Johnson Kuto Kalume Kenyan politician the first clergyman to be elected as a parliamentarian.Creator composer and co-producer of the Kenyan national anthem. [ [http://www.statehousekenya.go.ke/anthem.htm Selecting kenya's National Anthem ] ] Born in the Dagamra division of the Bate town near the tourist town of Malindi he managed to gain access to the priveleged alliance high school and went on to do a masters degree in theology in New York Theological Seminary College.Elected as a member of parliament in 1970 and represented Malindi North Constituency.Kalume died on 1975-03-15 leaving a wife with 9 children.
