Spahats Creek Falls, also called Spahats Falls, is a
waterfall onSpahats Creek within theWells Gray Provincial Park ofBritish Columbia ,Canada , and the name of a picnic ground and viewpoint of the falls which is popular with tour buses. Common references place the falls at around Unit m|60|0 tall, but taking into account the second tier, it is closer to 75-80 meters tall. Like the larger
Helmcken Falls , Spahats Falls owes its foundation to the deposits ofvolcanic rock in theWells Gray-Clearwater volcanic field that were placed down in thevalley of the Spahats Creek. Layer upon layer of fresh lava created flat areas, over which enormousflood s flowed during the lastice age . These floods shaped the uprightcliff in the lava flows over which theriver now flows. As a result, if it had not been for the volcanic eruptions, it is not likely that such a large wilderness region would have been made.ee also
