British TT gauge or TT3 When TT scale was first developed, contemporary motors were unable to fit into the small loading gauge British prototypes. Thus the scale was increased from true TT scale models. British TT was pioneered by Triang Railways as ready-to-run models.

This led the development of 3mm finescale standards.
