Saints Sarbel and Barbe, or Sarbelius and Barbea, (died 101 A.D.) are early second century Christian martyrs venerated by the
Roman Catholic Church andEastern Orthodox Church . Sarbel was a highpriest atEdessa inMesopotamia ; Barbe was his sister. They were tortured and killed for converting toChristianity under the Roman emperorTrajan . Their feast day is January 29.
