Hebmüller

The coachbuilding company Hebmüller And Sons was founded in 1889 by Joseph Hebmüller, it was established in the town of Wuppertal in Germany. At start it constructed horsedrawn carriages but after the death of Joseph in 1919, his sons started building bodies to automobiles. After the World War II the company received an order from the English army to build 15 Humber based cabriolets.Cite web|url=http://www.geocities.com/rolandf1/hebmuller.htm|title=Hebmuller|accessdate=2008-02-28|work=geocities.com] The company's best known model is perhaps the two seater convertible based on VW Type 1 platform known as Volkswagen Type 14A. VW ordered 2000 vehicles and the production started in June 1949.

By the end of 1940s company's economical situation was not good and it also suffered from a massive fire in its paint shop. The company met its end in bankruptcy in 1952.Cite web|url=http://web.telia.com/~u31614134/English/hebstory.htm|title=THE HEBMÜLLER STORY|accessdate=2008-02-28|work=web.telia.com]
