Nightingale from Bukovina ( _ru. Соловейко с Буковины, _uk. Соловейко з Буковини) is the first studio filmed movie starring Sofia Rotaru.

Plot

" became the first musical film of the Central ukrainian television, in which the 19-year old Sofia Rotaru, a young winner of the cantonal song competition. Th eexpression "Nightingale of USSR" (as the press was calling Sofia Rotaru in 70's) derived probably namely from this movie title. Sofia Rotaru has performed popular Ukrainian and Moldavian folk songs, characteristic for this region of Western Ukraine. The setting of the film are the premises of the Chernivsti Philharmonic Society.

The young singer appears in the titles with her Ukrainified (first version) last name - Rotar' (Rotaru in Moldavian).
