Avanti (bicycle manufacturer)

Avanti bikes is an Australasian company which orginiated from New Zealand and now distributes bicycles to many countires within Oceania.Avanti put its first bike into the New Zealand market in 1985 and since then has built its range to over 80 models catering for all areas of cycling. In 1991 Avanti went over the Tasman and set up a sister company in Australia which has been well adopted in the market.
Throughout its history Avanti has invested itself into promoting the sport of cycling with many major events held in Australia and New Zealand being sponsored by the brand. With this goal of pushing cycling they have also sponsored many local riders giving them the backing to take on the world and all while still riding a brand from downunder.It is through sponsoring these elite athletes that Avanti has made a name for itself taking out numerous world titles, Commonwealth and Olympic medals as well as consistently featuring on the podium of countless other national and international events.

* Subway Elite Road Team: The Subway Cycling Team is a unique unit of elite riders featuring stars Hayden Godfrey, Jeremy Yates and Fraser Macmaster - the first of its type in New Zealand - a full time team competing in international cycling events.
* Savings and Loan Elite Road Team: The Savings & Loans Cycling Team is the first professional South Australian cycling team receiving a license from Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) in 2006. Each member of the Savings & Loans Cycling Team has already had individual success at a national level or on the international scene. Featuring Olympic rider Brett Aitken and Australian Champions Russel van Hout and Chris Jongerwaard, and all riding Avanti's, this is a team to watch.

Avanti has prided itself on being an innovator and was one of the first brands to adopt full alloy frames. Renouned UK bike company Focus is currently using a rebranded Avanti Chrono frame for their Izalco Chrono's these bikes are also supplied to the German Cycling Team.A limited release was offered to riders in the form of an evolution of the Chrono which has a world first design of adopting the Oval Jetstream Technology into the rear stay of a bike creating less drag. This new design was ridden to first in his age group by Greg Fraine at the Ironman World Champs in Kona, Hawaii. Showing their local support these models were also released as a limited offer in either NZ or AU paint jobs with the riders name also added.

Avanti BMX Development "ABD"

In 2005 with the BMX market growing Avanti launched its BMX specific brand named ABD (Avanti BMX Development) to which it has had great success in the race arena with Australian National Champion Michael Fenwick and New Zealand National Champion Ritchie Mclachlan leading a team of up and coming riders making their mark.ABD's biggest exposure has come from kiwi girl Sarah Walker and her World Championship win in Women's Cruiser Elite class, Sarah will be representing her country at the Beijing Olympics which is the first year BMX has been included in the games.
