Anthony Arkwright

Anthony Arkwright (born 1968) is a British murderer.

In 1989, at the age of 21, he killed his grandfather and three other people on a killing spree in Rotherham, Yorkshire. His case attracted much tabloid interest when it was revealed that a devil mask was found near one of the bodies. The police found the vicitims in reverse order to the order in which he killed them. At 6'8" he was a dominating presence and a powerful man. He was later found guilty of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment.

He remains in prison almost 20 years after his trial, and on 23 February 2008 The Times reported that he was among 50 or so life sentence prisoners who had been issued with whole life tariffs and were unlikely ever to be released.

Arkwright one of 5 children from Wath-Upon-Dearne, Rotherham had a turbulent start to life, his mother left the family home when he was just 2 years old. All the children where taken into the custody of the local authorities. Arkwright was soon diagnosed with behavioral and learning difficulties and spent most of his childhood in residential 'special' schools.

It is strongly believed that before he embarked on his murder spree, his mother informed him he was his grandfathers son.
