Trapped (Colonel Abrams song)

Trapped (Colonel Abrams song)

"Trapped" is a single released by American dance music artist Colonel Abrams in 1985. It has since become known as Abrams' signature song and still receives airplay on dance radio stations in the UK and the US. The song combines elements of both R&B and dance. In 1987, Rick Astley released the hit song, "Never Gonna Give You Up", which was similar in sound to "Trapped", especially in the use of synthesizers. Noted producers Stock Aitken Waterman, who had created Astley's song, were accused of lifting key elements of Abrams' single for their own music, however there was no successful lawsuit regarding this claim.

This song has arguably remained Abrams' biggest hit on both sides of the Atlantic, topping the US Hot Dance Club Play chart for one week in September of 1985 and peaking at number three on the UK singles chart. In the latter country, he is often regarded as a "one hit wonder".
