"The Ballad of Ronnie Drew" is a single by U2, The Dubliners, Kila, and "A Band of Bowsies". [ [http://www.u2.com/news/index.php?mode=full&news_id=2201] ] The single was recorded as a charitable project, with proceeds going to the Irish Cancer Society - owing to Ronnie Drew's condition of cancer. [ [http://www.cancer.ie//news/ronnie_drew_song.php Irish Cancer Society - Irish Musicians Pen Song for Ronnie Drew] ] It was recorded at Windmill Lane, January 14th and 15th, 2008. The Ballad of Ronnie Drew is available as a CD in Ireland only.

Glen Hansard's vocals on the record were recorded over the telephone, and not in person, as he was in the United States of America for the 80th Annual Academy Awards.
