In late February 2008, he was present at rally supporting ZANU-PF candidate Sikhanyiso Ndlovu's bid for the Pelandava-Mpopoma constituency seat. [ZANU-Pf Cantidates campaign [http://www.herald.co.zw/inside.aspx?sectid=31271&cat=1] (Accessed 02/25/2008)] Mathema was quoted saying at the rally: "vote for the ruling party as the opposition MDC had failed to deliver and had made false promises to the electorate."
