E. van Vogt. It was released in 1952 by Gnome Press in an edition of 5,000 copies. It was reprinted by Berkley Books in 1955 under the title Mission to the Stars. Most of the stories had previously appeared in the magazine Astounding SF.

Reception
P. Schuyler Miller found the novel to be "distinctly minor van Vogt" and that the protagonist "isn't very convincing."[1]
