The Smart Set (TSS)

The Smart Set (TSS) is a Seattle-based nonprofit organization that works to increase interest, literacy, and involvement in the fields of science, design, and cutlure. The idea of TSS was inspired by the early 20th century literary magazine The Smart Set. Key programs of TSS include The Smart Set Achievement (TSSA) Awards, Squareland (a science, design, and culture fair), and PISA which supports scientists, designers, and cultural leaders running for public office. Physicist Lisa Randall is a TSS 'Sceleb', industrial designer Marcel Wanders a TSS 'Design Idol', and poet Maya Angelou is one of TSS's 'Culture Icons'. TSS was founded in 2006 by social entrepreneur Sean Schmidt, Co-founder of the Sustainable Style Foundation.
