Virginia General District Court
- Virginia General District Court
A General District Court is the court most Virginians have contact with. It hears traffic cases and other misdemeanors, as well as sole authority to try civil claims involving amounts of $4,500 or less. It shares authority with Circuit Court to try cases involving sums between $4,500 and $15,000. Appeals from General District Court go to Circuit Court.
