Schroeder Hall

Schroeder Hall

Schroeder Hall is one of Marquette University's eight residence halls. Located at 725 N. 13th St., between Wisconsin Ave. and Wells St., Schroeder Hall is Marquette University's only second-year-student only residence hall. [ Office of Residence Life http://www.marquette.edu/pages/home/orl/res/reshalls/schroeder] The building houses approximately 650 students, both male and female. The building is made up of 10 floors, which are each segregated by sex.

History

The hall was built in November 1957. It was named after hotel chain owner Walter Schroeder, who's substantial donations to the university also funded a renovation of the school's health sciences facility. Facilities

The building's first floor does not house students, but contains a dining hall, the hall's mail room and administrative offices, as well as the University's Wired office, where students can drop their malfunctioning computers off for service. [IT Services & Residence Life http://www.mu.edu/its/help/wired/office.shtml] There is a lounge in the middle of every floor for student's use. The basement of the hall does not house students, but contains laundry and trash facilities, a computer lab, music practice rooms, and the hall's snack bar. The second through tenth floors of the hall are divided into north and south wings, with a residence assistant assigned to each wing. Each wing has all double rooms, with the exception of one triple room, housing three students, and the resident assistant's single room. The wings are joined by a communal bathroom and a student lounge. The building is fully equipped with wireless in each room.
