Skrea strand

Skrea strand is an about two kilometer long beach in Falkenberg, Sweden. It has a 250 meter long pier and about 1,600 cabins [http://www.arkitekt.se/s16024 Arkitekten (juni 2005): Alla lika inför badet] sv icon] . An indoor bath, Klitterbadet, is located close to the beach.

History

The area was originally outlaying land, belonging to Skrea. The number of bathers increased as it became easier to reach the beach due to road and rail connections [http://www.falkenberg.se/omfalkenberg/webbkamera.4.1f78b68fb4fdb575b7fff3478.html Falkenbergs kommun: Åtgärdsplan Skrea strand] sv icon] . In 1914 the beach had tens of cabins, by 1928 their number had increased to about 300.cite book|title=Kommunalt sekel - Falkenbergs stadsfullmäktige 1866-1965|author=Eric Hägge|location=Lidköping|printer=Landströms trycksaker AB|year=1966] Tuberkulosföreningen (the Tubercolosis association) had a children's camp at the beach from 1917. From the 1930s facilities such as a hotel and restaurant was built to handle the increasing number of bathers.
