Martin PughLouis Cennamo Armageddon was a
hard rock band formed in 1975 in England. The supergroup was comprised of drummer Bobby Caldwell, previously a member ofCaptain Beyond , singerKeith Relf , who had fronted the enormously influentialYardbirds as well as having been a co-founder of Renaissance, guitaristMartin Pugh , of Steamhammer fame, and bassistLouis Cennamo , also formerly of Renaissance and Steamhammer. They released only one album, the self-titled "Armageddon", which was recorded in England and released in the United States onA&M Records . The band played only a few gigs to promote the album, and as a result, it was largely ignored.Soon after the album's release, Relf died in an accident when he electrocuted himself while playing his electric guitar. Deprived of their lead singer and song co-writer, the group disbanded.
In a 2001 interview, Bobby Caldwell mentioned that Armageddon played only a few shows in California. This was due to the band's manager being absent and, consequently, the band not being promoted properly.
