Francis Evered Lunt

Frederick Evered Lunt was the 9th Anglican Bishop of Stepney from 1957 [ "Bishop Of Stepney Nominated (News)" The Times Wednesday, Jun 12, 1957; pg. 8; Issue 53865; col E] until 1958 [ "….resignation of Bishop Lunt due to age……" The Times, Friday, Feb 23, 1968; pg. 10; Issue 57183; col ] . He was born in 1900 [“Who was Who” 1897-1990 London, A & C Black, 1991 ISBN 071363457X] and educated at University College, Durham before embarking on an ecclesiastical career with a Curacy at Maidenhead. After an incumbency at Ely he rose steadily in the Church’s hierarchy before elevation to the Episcopate in 1957, a post he held until retirement. Elected a Fellow of Downing College, Cambridge in 1966 he died in 1982.
