Hiram Bond Everest

Hiram Bond Everest (February 27, 1831 - March 6, 1913) was an American scientist and a professor of science at Wisconsin University until 1835 , when he moved to Rochester, N.Y., and established a nursery business with business partner Matthew Ewing. The Vacuum Oil Company was incorporated in 1866, after obtaining a patent for a new method of distilling kerosene in a vacuum that produced a high-quality lubricant. After which, Everest leased ten thousand acres for the company in Oatka Valley, California and was reputed to be a multi-millionaire.Hiram Bond Everest, died at age 82 in Los Angeles, California.
