Ruth Dodds

Ruth Dodds (8 May 18901 April 1976 [ [http://errol.oclc.org/laf/nb98-57020.html Library of Congress Name Authority File] ] ) lived in Gateshead, England and was an author, playwright and councillor of Newcastle upon Tyne. She was made the first woman freeman of Gateshead in 1965.

One of three daughters of bookbinder and historian Edwin Dodds, Ruth was a local politician. She is known, with her sisters Hope and Sylvia, for founding the Little Theatre Gateshead [ [http://www.littletheatre.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/history.htm History of the Progressive Players and the Little Theatre ] ] .
