Kakarlapalli

Kakarlapalli/Kakarlapally is a village in Khammam district, Andhra Pradesh, India. The name has been derived from the great ancestor kingdom of Telangana region called "Kakatiya".

The main highway that connects Rajmandri (Raja Mahendri) and Khammam passes through the nearest and adjacent town, Sathupally, which is one mile away from this village. From Hyderabad, you get APSRTC (Local transport) buses to Sathupally. From Vijayawada: APSRTC buses run to Sathypally.

Temples

The village is land of temples. The main temple is Shiva Temple. Lord Shiva protects the village from floods and drought. There is a beautiful story behind Lord Shiva temple. The villagers came together forgetting their political rivalry, to build this destroyed or unattended temple for couple of decades. Everyone has contributed towards the temple cause.

Other temples which must be visited are Ganesha, Kaartikeya, Veera Raghava, Krishna, Hanuman, Rama and Muthyalamma. All these temples are well organized and all the puja vidhis are performed year long.

One should visit the village and temples to feel the imminence of the all pervading divinity. In fact this village once was the pilgrimage with Koneru (Devine Tank) in the middle of the village. Nandi Vigrahas have been found all along the village. Villagers did a great thing by rebuilding the Shiva temple.

The village population is about 8000. The language is Telugu, born from the oldest language, Samskrit. You find people mixing some Urdu too as its one of the villages ruled by Urdu kings of Hyderabad Samstan.

Kakarla is surrounded by three tanks (called cheruyu in telugu). Once the main tank fills with water, the crop harvest is guaranteed for that crop season. Villagers maintain the water resources very well.
