July 19 ,1974 inLiverpool ) is an Englishdarts player who previously played for theProfessional Darts Corporation and now plays for theBritish Darts Organisation . His nickname is Kong. Although they share the same surname Robbie is no relation to fellow darts player Alan Green but the two are good friends and often joke that they are brothers at tournaments.Career
Green made his televised debut at the 2004 UK Open, reaching the last 64 stage. The same year he qualified for the World Matchplay in
Blackpool , losing in the first round to Bob Anderson. It was the 2006 UK Open that he made a name for himself...for the wrong reasons. He reached the quarter-finals, beatingJamie Harvey , Chris Mason, Mark Walsh andTerry Jenkins along the way. He was beaten byJohn MaGowan .Failed Drugs Test
It was after the tournament where the problems began. A random drugs test showed he tested postive for a banned substance, he was fined £3,000, forced to return his £4,000 prize money from the UK Open and was suspended by the Darts Regulation Authority. He also lost sponsorship as a result. He still managed to play in tournaments, qualifying for the
International Darts League and had another UK Open campaign, but a shortage of sponsorship money forced him to play fewer tournaments.witch to BDO
On January 22, 2008, Green became one of only a handful of players to switch from the PDC to the rival BDO. Green admitted he couldn't afford staying with the PDC without sponsorship. His first tournament with the BDO was the Scottish Open on February 17 where he reached the second round. Despite his Merseyside roots, Green plays county darts for
Clwyd inWales and was eligible for the Wales National Championship which he won in June 2008. He followed his good form with a semi-final showing in the BDO International Open, beatingMartin Adams , Gary Anderson, Martin Atkins andTed Hankey along the way, eventually losing to England Open championRoss Montgomery ofScotland .Personal life
Away from the Oche Robbie earns his living as a courier, his son Jamie is a promising dart player who already plays in the Merseyside Superleague. Robbie supports Liverpool F.C.
