Faye Chism

Faye Chism

Marvin Faye Chism (born 1944) was a very close witness to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy within Dealey Plaza in Dallas Texas on November 22, 1963.

Faye, her husband, John, and their 3-year-old son, Ricky, were all standing together right up to Dealey Plaza's Elm Street north sidewalk curb, located at the eastern base of the grassy knoll. Chism was only 16' from President Kennedy at the closest point that he passed her during the assassination.

The Chism's were not filmed during the Zapruder film because they were hidden by the "Stemmons Freeway" sign, but, they are clearly visible in many other films, photos, and slide-photos captured before, during, and after the assassination.

The Chism's are considered unreliable witnesses, due to their claims that President Kennedy was standing when he was shot. Faye stated in her affidavit [ [http://www.history-matters.com/archive/jfk/wc/wcvols/wh19/html/WH_Vol19_0245b.htm Marvin Faye Chism: Eyewitness; Dallas police affidavit, 11-22-63] ] to the Dallas Police that:

The President was standing and waving and smiling at the people when the shot happened.

Her husband made a similar statement in his affidavit [ [http://www.history-matters.com/archive/jfk/wc/wcvols/wh19/html/WH_Vol19_0245a.htm John Arthur Chism: Eyewitness; Dallas police affidavit, 11-22-63] ] :

When I saw the motorcade round the corner, the President was standing and waving to the crowd. And just as he got just about in front of me, he turned and waved at the crowd on this side of the street, the right side; at this point I heard what sounded like one shot, and I saw him, "The President," sit back in his seat and lean his head to his left side.

Neither she nor her husband were ever called to testify publicly to the Warren Commission or the second assassination investigation by the House Select Committee on Assassinations.
