Dr. Marilyn C. Solvay is the current Director of
Norwich University 'sSullivan Museum and History Center inVermont ,United States . She is a1973 graduate of TheUniversity of Arizona and holds a BA degree inArt History , as well as in1975 she received a MA inAnthropology . She then attendedGeorge Washington University where she received a MA degree in1976 in teaching ofmuseum education . She also received aPh.D. fromLesley University inEducational Studies in1999 .
Dr. Solvay has held professor positions of Museum Studies, American Studies, and Art History for over 30 years, in over a dozen colleges and universities, including TheUniversity of Pennsylvania andLesley University .
Dr. Solvay is a published author, editor, and journalist. She was the co-author for an article forHistory News , on national family learning project at TheU.S.S. Constitution Museum titled, "Laughing & Learning Together: Family Learning Research Becomes Practice at the USS Constitution Museum." As well as the co-author of "The Qualitative Study on the impact of the National "Youth Alive" Program (31 museums) on at-risk teens" for theAssociation of Science and Technology Center , and for TheSmithsonian Institution . She was a Book Reviewer on "The Promise of Cultural Institutions"; by:David Carr forThe Journal of Visitor Studies .
Dr. Solvay gives many museum education and study workshops and presentation across theUnited States . Highlight conventions have been for organizations such as TheNew England Historical Association , TheAmerican Association of Museums ,History Alliance , TheUpstate History Alliance , TheAmerican Association for State and Local History , and colleges and universities.ee also
