Malibu Rehab Model

"Malibu Rehab Model" is an informal term that refers to the treatment style used by some of the drug rehabilitation centers in Malibu, California. It has no defined clinical definition but emphasizes dedicated personal care including meals prepared by private chefs, personal trainers and luxurious accomodations. The Malibu Rehab Model has come under criticism for being more about rehabilitation of public relations rather than a treatment for alcohol and drug addiction. Contrast to traditional treatment

The Malibu Rehab Model differs from traditional models such as the Minnesota Model, by allowing patients more liberty in addition to privatized treatment whereas in traditional approaches peer groups are heavily relied upon for therapy, patients are not allowed to leave the facility and receive limited visitors.
