Spiral dance

:"For the book by Starhawk, see The Spiral Dance. For the band, see Spiral Dance (band)."Spiral dance, also called the Grapevine dance and the Weaver’s dance, is a neo-pagan dance, popular at festivals and often used as a greeting. Considered an excellent way to raise energy, the Spiral dance gets its name from the movements of the dancers. Dancers first stand in a circle holding hands, then a dancer opens the circle and leads the rest of the dancers in the line in a spiral into a center point, and then out to a circle again, usually with several convolutions. During the dance, every participant faces every other at some point and may kiss as a greeting.

Starhawk is generally accepted as the creator of the first Spiral Dance. While her work continues on, the Spiral Dance has taken on new meanings and a life of its own. http://www.starhawk.org/writings/spiraldance.htmlhttp://www.witchvox.com/va/vs_articles.html?searchtype=arbody&searchterm=spiral+dance
