- Ladycross School
Ladycross was a Catholic preparatory school in based in Seaford,
East Sussex . Founded in 1891, more than 2,000 pupils attended it before its closure in 1977. After the sale of the school by the Ropers (the founding family) in the 50's, the school was owned by a Birmingham stockbroker called Michael Feeny, who lacked the necessary educational experience, and the school became increasingly run down with numbers dropping drastically. Feeny tried to make a killing out of the mid-70's property boom by selling the site and buying a cheaper one inland. However, the deal went sour, leaving the school with insurmountable debts, making the sale to a property developer inevitable.Among these pupils wereDavid Auldjo Jamieson , who won theVictoria Cross .
