Kristin Ross is a
professor ofcomparative literature atNew York University . She received herPh.D. fromYale University in 1981.Her research interests include
French literature and culture of the 19th and 20th centuries, FrancophoneCaribbean literature , urban history and revolutionary history. She is proficient in the French language and is thetranslator of several works, including an English version ofJacques Ranciere 's "The Ignorant Schoolmaster".Professor Ross has written a number of books, including "The Emergence of Social Space:
Rimbaud and theParis Commune " (1988), "Fast Cars, Clean Bodies: Decolonization and the Reordering of French Culture" (1995) and "May '68 and its Afterlives" (2002). She co-authored "Anti-Americanism" (2004) withAndrew Ross .For "Fast Cars, Clean Bodies", she was awarded a
Critic's Choice Award and the Lawrence Wylie Award for French Cultural Studies. Professor Ross has also received aGuggenheim Fellowship and a fellowship from thePrinceton Institute for Advanced Study .External links
