Ron Nehring

Ron Nehring (born May 20, 1970 in Islip, New York) is currently the Chairman for the California Republican Party.

Previous positions

In July 2001, he was unanimously elected Chairman of the Republican Party of San Diego County, where he would retain this post for the next 5 1/2 years. During his chairmanship the Republican Party of San Diego County became widely recognized as a model political organization focused on registration, voter identification and turnout efforts. Republican voter registration and fundraising both expanded during this time.

In 2003, he was unanimously chosen by his fellow county Republican chairmen to serve as President of the California Republican County Chairmen's Association and as a member of the Board of Directors of the California Republican Party.

From 2004 through 2006, he served as a Trustee for the Grossmont Union High School District, a large school district in east San Diego County with 11 high schools and an annual budget exceeding $170 million. He proposed a comprehensive plan for sharply increasing charter schools in the district.

In 2005 he was elected Vice Chairman of the California Republican Party, a post he held for two years prior to being elected Chairman in 2007.

In 2005 and 2006, he was appointed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to the California Board of Forestry and Fire Protection where be brought his experiences from the 2003 Cedar Fire which destroyed over 2,000 homes in San Diego County and drew national attention.

Personal life

Aside from being Chairman of the California Republican Party, Ron Nehring is also a communications consultant and frequent lecturer. He currently resides in Crest, California. His current marital status is single.
