Akos Gurzo is an award-winning journalist and the diplomatic correspondent of the
Hungarian National News Agency (MTI). For the last ten years the 26-year-old Hungarian has worked for regional radio and television as well as for the BBC World Service [http://www.bbc.co.uk/hungarian/ Hungarian Section] . He has also sampled the Hungarian public television sector, a nationwide news portal and the first 24/7 news radio of Hungary. In 2006 he became a correspondent of the Hungarian National News Agency.

In the last five years Akos Gurzo reported numerous stories from countries of the Central European region such as Slovakia, Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as from the centre of the European Union, Brussels. In 2007 on top of his diplomatic correspondent’s duties, the journalist willing took on a “war assignment” to report from Afghanistan.

As a correspondent of the MTI he wrote more than 1200 articles in the last year, quoted by not only Hungarian, but international newswires.

In 2005 Akos Gurzo won the famous Hungarian Kazinczy-prize for public speaking and debate. In 2007, he was awarded “Most Talented Young Journalist of the Year Award” by the Hungarian National News Agency.

The journalist travels a lot inside and outside of Hungary. In the last year, he visited several European capitals like London, Prague, Warsaw, Istanbul and discovered Thailand and Cambodia.
