"Stratford (J. T.) & Son Ltd. v. Lindley" [1965] A.C. 269 is a
British labour law case that concernseconomic tort .The defendant
trade union interfered with the business of Stratford. They did it by unlawful means, by inducing the men to break their contracts of employment by refusing to handle the barges.Lord Reid said, at p. 324: "The respondents' action made it practically impossible for the appellants to do any new business with the barge hirers. It was not disputed that such interference is tortious if any unlawful means are employed.
