Hillhouse Tailors LLC was founded as a bespoke dress shirt company in 2007. Yale University School of Management graduate, Shawn Liu founded Hillhouse Tailors after working two years at The Federal Reserve in Washington as a research analyst. Liu’s background in entrepreneurship started with his observation of his father, an emigrant from China who, after leaving his employment with BIC, Inc., started his own ink business out of his garage. Before launching his own company, Liu, along with fellow Yale graduate Jennie Vry, conducted extensive testing of the product and service process.
