Shpresa Vitia, 19, is an Albanian beauty queen, who represented her native country, Albania in the environmentally oriented international beauty pageant, Miss Earth 2007 in Quezon City, Philippines held on November 11, 2007. Shpresa Vitia is currently studying Psychology at Kingston University in London. She was born and raised in Vranjevce Prishtine. In 1997 her family moved to Great Britain, where she is currently residing. Before her participation to Miss Earth, she joined and won the Miss Shqiptarja 2007. She beat twenty-nine (29) other contestants. As Miss Shqiptarja 2007 winner, she travelled to the Philippines to participate in the world final of the seventh edition of Miss Earth pageant, won by Jessica Trisko of Canada, and to promote environmental awareness programs with the Philippine-based Miss Earth Foundation. "My project would be a "Before and After" advertisements on T.V. These adverts would be about our environment e.g. rivers, parks etc., before images to be positive ones, showin how the state of ou environment was before the car pollution, gas leakings, waste and so on. After images more negative and clearly indicating the effects of our actions. However these adverts would have to follow a serious theme, not over exadurate the issues and not be shown so very offten so that people do not become immun to them and so that they lose their important meaning." "I believe that such advertisements indicate a clear statement about the issue it self and they clarify the main caurse of the problem. Such advertisements also indicate the consequences of our actions, for example, if the whole population owned a car and used it dayly for unnessasry reasons we will be at rist of air pollution which will not only affect our heath but the state of the earth it self."I" believe that in our mordern society people have become lazy and so concerned with other things such as work and domestic issues, that they find them selves isolated. The issues of the environment are in general to big for them therefore, viewed far in distance from each individual as if these issues do not concern them. Every land, every territory, every population has a history, of the great pains and sufferings and the great victories and joys. Albania raised one of the oldest populations in the Balkans across Europe (the Illyrians), I am proud because I share the same home land as some of the worlds most greatest individuals such as Skenderbeg, Mother Teresa, Aleksandra the Great. It’s not only our actions that construct whom we are but the place we come from. Because as a nation you are obligated to fight the same struggles and cry the same tears, but also laugh the same laughter’s. Albania not only raised some of the greatest people known and respected across the world, but also contains the most beautiful landscapes, coasts, historical sites, culture and traditions.

I was born into a world that seemed very cold, in many aspects, as a young child growing up in poverty was not easy, I got picked on for not having the best clothes and house and so on, but being raised up in a harsh environment made me stronger, also encouraged me to place emphasis upon family love, rather than material mechanisms, I being aware and familiar with hard times, structures your whole perspective of life, in my opinion it makes you a better person. Therefore my ambition has always been related to helping people advising them keeping them stabled and reminding them of whom they are, even at a very young age I found my self in the middle of my friends issues always trying to help them out in some way or another I love being able to regain peoples strength, for this same reason I have continued studying Psychology at Kingston University and plan to be Dr. Shpresa Vitia one day. I also love music I believe that its one of the best ways of expressing emotion, you can change someone’s life with one powerful song, I write a lot of songs all from the heart, music saved my life.
