Afogados da Ingazeira

Afogados da Ingazeira is a Brazilian municipality in the state of Pernambuco.

Estimated population in 2004: 35,365. Total area: 377.86 km². Located 525 meters above the sea level and 386 km away from the state capital, Recife. The climate is semi-arid.

In 2000, Afogados da Ingazeria had the second highest Human Development Index (HDI) in the Alto do Pajeú region of Pernambuco state. Nonetheless, its score (0.683) was still below the state (0.705) and national (0.789) averages. The city is the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Afogados da Ingazeira.
