Spokane Community College

Spokane Community College is located in Spokane, WA and is part of the Community Colleges of Spokane.

Being the oldest of the community colleges located in Northeast Spokane, it is near Gonzaga University (which is just two miles west of the SCC campus). The college's curriculum consists of Liberal Arts as well as a large base of Job Training and Technical skills work. Spokane Community College, or SCC, is a comprehensive educational institution meeting the needs of students and business and industry throughout the region. SCC provides transfer degrees and the opportunity to continue education by transferring those degrees to a four-year institution.

The college also has over sixty career and technical degree and certificate programs to prepare students for the world of work, as well as 99 associate degrees and 96 professional certificates in 105 programs of study. New programs starting in the fall of 2007 include a Center for Entrepreneurship, Vascular Technology, and Massage Therapy. The campus includes 23 administrative, academic, and support buildings located on 148 acres next to the Spokane River midway between the cities of Spokane and Spokane Valley. An additional 10 acres is utilized for off-campus facilities to house Apprenticeship and Journeyman Training Center, Aviation Hangar at Felts Field airport, and Central Receiving.

Students of all ages and ethnic origin choose SCC. Some are attracted by the college's professional-technical programs, where they can learn specific skills that can be taken into the workplace following graduation. The estimated employment rate of SCC professional-technical students is over 80% for students who complete their program, and over 70% for those who attend a program, even if they don't complete it. Some students already work full time, but attend school part time to obtain more skills and knowledge for on-the-job advancement. Other SCC students enroll in liberal arts programs so they can transfer to four-year institutions.

SCC is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities and governed by the Washington State Board of Community and Technical Colleges.
