After Rappani's death, Madzhid was appointed the new leader of the Shariat Jamaat on the orders of
Dokka Umarov , former president of theChechen Republic of Ichkeria and the current leader of theCaucasus Emirate . He was credited for bringing order to the resistance cells spread across the republic right after Rappani's death, and receive the oaths of fealty from the many various detachments of the Shariat Jamaat. Madzhid also repeated his and Shariat Jammats oath to only attack security and military targets and to avoid civilian deaths at all cost, much like the commitment his two succesors Makasharipov & Khaliov made. Even though he was born in Dagestan, Madzhid is closely connected with the men who are fighting in the borderlands of Chechnya, which makes it possible for him to find support among the Chechens and gives him an advantage in his new role asJamaat leader.
