Shaykh Aminiya

Shaykh Aminiya

The Shakyh Aminiya (شايخ آمينة Shayq Armeeniyah) are the exiled clan of Arabia who now live in areas of the British Isles, Palestine, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. The Aminiya or Amin clan were banished from the United Arab Emirates after the Zayeds came to power in the early 1970s.

The Shaykhs have alliance with two other clans - the Shi'i Abede and al-Junayd. The daughter of Tariqh and Tasnem, Soha Zehra, is married to Mika'il Isam, the eldest son of the al-Junayds.

Exile and Return

Since the exile, the Shaykhs have only returned for personal reasons like weddings and deaths. They vow not to go back unless their rights as ministers are recognized and they regain their land in the Al Ain Dubai Border.

"The Aminiya will not return in the Emirates unless our rights as Ministers are recognized. We will be patient God willing. A warning, our supporters will not let the Nasira rest.."

Human Rights and Environment

Since exile, the Aminiya have been active in human rights and environmental issues. They held the summit at Jeddah regarding the oppression of women. Zayba Zehra was trapped in Palestine for 1 year after she was helping victims in Gaza.

Family Crisis

The family are technically in civil war. Half of them wish to go back to Dubai and forgive the Zayeds for exiling them but the other half never want to even hear about it again.

Disputes between the daughters and daughter-in-laws reached its breaking point in 1990 when Thalat Rifat walked out.
